The Pasteur Center of Cameroon (CPC) welcomed, on Friday, February 6, 2026, the students of Our Lady of Fatima Academy (OLAFAC), a general secondary school of the Anglophone sub-system in the city of Yaoundé, as part of an educational visit organized within the Hygiene and Environment Service.
This initiative is part of CPC’s commitment to bringing young learners closer to the scientific and professional world. It specifically aimed to enable students to establish a concrete link between the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom and its practical applications in the laboratory.
Composed of students from Form 1 to Lower Sixth, the delegation was able to discover several analytical techniques used in the laboratories of the Hygiene and Environment Service, particularly in the microbiology and physico-chemistry sections. The learners were thus introduced to different scientific methods, including electrochemical techniques, spectrophotometry, ion chromatography, and emission spectroscopy.
Through interactive exchanges with the technical teams and demonstrations adapted to their academic level, the students were able to better understand certain scientific concepts that are sometimes considered complex. This hands-on experience sparked genuine enthusiasm among the participants, some of whom expressed a strong interest in academic paths oriented towards analytical chemistry, quality control, and, more broadly, applied sciences.
Through this activity, the Pasteur Center of Cameroon is pleased to have contributed to the scientific awakening of these young learners and reaffirms its commitment to promoting science among younger generations, with the aim of inspiring careers in scientific and technological fields.
