Bangui’s Third Scientific Days: the Pasteur Center of Cameroon rallies around the ‘One Health’ approach

The Centre Pasteur of Cameroon (CPC) actively participated in the 3rd Scientific Days of Bangui (JSB3), held from May 25 to 27, 2026, organized by the University of Bangui and the Pasteur Institute of Bangui.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, Prof. Richard Njouom, Head of the Virology Department at CPC, had the honor of delivering the opening lecture to a full room and a particularly attentive audience. For nearly 30 minutes, he presented the challenges, opportunities, and perspectives of the ‘One Health’ approach in strengthening the management of zoonoses in sub-Saharan Africa, under the moderation of Prof. Silla SEMBALLA and Dr. Nicolas BERTHET.

Prof. Richard Njouom also stood out in moderating the parallel sessions dedicated to the integrated human, animal, and environmental surveillance of health issues within the One Health approach.

CPC is also represented by Dr. Huguette Dorine SIMO, a junior researcher, who gave an oral talk on the topic: “Re-emergence of Rift Valley fever in the Central African Republic”.

Researchers, teachers, practitioners, and participants engage throughout these days around major themes: ‘One Health: major challenges, opportunities, and perspectives.’

These exchanges reflect the goal of JSB3: to promote interdisciplinary dialogue in order to better understand and address health, environmental, and societal challenges in the Central African Republic and Central Africa.
