As part of his tour to connect with key players in the health sector of the Centre region, Dr. Albert Mambo Maka, appointed Regional Delegate of Public Health on May 13, 2026, paid a working visit to the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon (CPC) on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was accompanied by the Head of General Affairs, the Head of the Healthcare Quality Control Unit, and the Chief of Staff of the Regional Delegation. Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Suzanne Belinga, Deputy Director General of the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon, along with the heads of the center’s various departments and services. This meeting was an opportunity to present the core missions of the CPC, which focus on laboratory services, vaccination, scientific research, public health, and training.

Dr. Albert Mambo Maka stated that this first visit was intended to establish contact with the Center’s managers, better understand its activities, and discover its main technical and scientific infrastructures.
At the end of the work session, the delegation took a guided tour of the main technical platforms. This tour allowed them to see the teams working daily to carry out the Center’s missions, as well as several strategic units, including the patient reception area, the serology, biochemistry, and hematology laboratories grouped in the Open Space, as well as the bacteriology, parasitology, and mycology laboratories.

The visitors also got a look at the high-tech equipment available at the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon, including a next-generation MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. This equipment allows for quick and reliable identification of microorganisms, helping to improve the quality of analyses and reduce turnaround times for results.

Marked by constructive exchanges, this visit allowed the Regional Delegate to assess the technical, scientific, and operational capabilities of the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon, a key player in public health. The discussions also highlighted the prospects for strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in public health monitoring, training of health personnel, and carrying out the health system regulation missions entrusted to the Regional Delegate by the Minister of Public Health.
