Elected following the January 13, 2026 vote, the new staff representatives of the Pasteur Center of Cameroon (CPC) were officially sworn in on February 2, 2026, during a simple ceremony, yet filled with messages of commitment and vision. They thus begin a two-year term, marked by social dialogue and the improvement of working conditions.
Interspersed with several speeches calling for collective work for the well-being of Pasteurians and the prominence of the institution, the ceremony opened with an address by the president of the office of the Union of Employees of Health Establishments, Pharmacies, and Related Services of Mfoundi at the CPC (SYNDESAPAM), Suzanne Koko. She praised the efforts of the General Management in fostering a social dialogue established and maintained with staff representatives.
Before the official installation of the delegates, the Secretary for Administrative Affairs of SYNDESAPAM, Joseph Bieteke, reminded them of the essential responsibilities and duties that fall to them. He specifically urged them to remain staff delegates rather than personal delegates, emphasizing the need to master the legal texts governing their role. Among these references are the Labor Code, the collective agreement, the CPC’s internal regulations, as well as the applicable international conventions.
Speaking on behalf of the elected delegates, Yannick Willy Kamdem presented the main areas that will guide their action. He specifically mentioned the establishment of a staff mutual insurance plan as well as the effective implementation of the career profile, two major projects aimed at enhancing the well-being and professional development of the employees.
Closing the ceremony, the Director General of the CPC, Dr. Mirdad Kazanji, invited all staff to make a culture of excellence a true guiding principle. The Director General also emphasized the importance of consensus as the preferred management approach, while welcoming this year’s increase in staff insurance benefits. He encouraged Pasteurians to continue collective efforts to place people at the center of the institution’s priorities, in line with the slogan of the reference and public health laboratory: ‘Excellence in biology accessible to all.’
