The Centre Pasteur du Cameroun opts to raise awareness and train its staff
This 28 April 2025, we are celebrating World Occupational Safety and Health Day around the theme: ‘Revolution in health and safety: the role of AI and digitisation at work’.
At the Centre Pasteur du Cameroun, in order to ensure a healthy, safe working environment and guarantee collective safety, the emphasis this year is on raising staff awareness of the essential steps to be taken to prevent any exposure in the laboratory, accompanied by training in the use and maintenance of Microbiological Safety Stations (MSS).
The PSM is a piece of technological equipment designed to create a safe working environment for handling infectious micro-organisms and other biological agents. The PSM is used in microbiology laboratories, research centres, hospitals and other facilities where pathogens or potentially dangerous substances are handled.
In daily contact with the CPC’s MMPs, 39 technicians from the Bacteriology, Maludology, Mycobacteriology, Virology and Hygiene and Environment laboratories will be trained from 28 to 30 April 2025 through theoretical courses, practical exercises and guided visits to laboratories equipped with MMPs. The training will be led by Martial YONGA, Head of Biosafety at the Centre Pasteur du Cameroun.
