The Centre Pasteur du Cameroun and AIMS-Cameroon are joining their expertise in the service of public health

The Centre Pasteur du Cameroun (CPC) and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS-Cameroon) officially sealed their partnership by signing a framework collaboration agreement on June 19, 2026, in Yaoundé.

Signed by Dr. Mirdad Kazanji, Director General of the CPC, and Prof. Mama Foupouagnigni, President of AIMS-Cameroon, this agreement reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to pool their scientific, academic, and technical expertise in support of research and public health.

This collaboration brings together two centers of excellence with complementary skills: the Centre Pateur du Cameroun, a national and regional reference in medical biology, and AIMS-Cameroon, a leading institution in mathematics, modeling, and artificial intelligence.

For Dr. Mirdad Kazanji, this partnership opens up new opportunities for anticipating and managing health threats. By combining the epidemiological data collected by the CPC with the mathematical models developed by AIMS, the two institutions will be able to contribute to more accurate forecasting of epidemics such as Mpox, cholera, and other emerging diseases. These tools will give health authorities strategic information to better prepare and guide their interventions.

Much more than just an agreement, this partnership formalizes a cooperation that was already underway between the two institutions. It aims in particular to promote the smart use of health data, the development of AI applications, as well as the design and improvement of mathematical models dedicated to public health. The collaboration will also cover joint research projects, the mobility of researchers and students, and the strengthening of scientific and technical capacities, notes Prof. Mama Foupouagnigni.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Prof. Njifon, President of the AIMS Center in Rwanda, highlighting the strategic importance of this initiative for the development of research in Africa.

Through this agreement, the CPC and AIMS-Cameroon aim to strengthen their cooperation in several areas of mutual interest, including mathematical modeling, biostatistics, quantitative epidemiology, artificial intelligence applied to health, data science, bioinformatics, health monitoring, and the development of decision-support tools for public health policies.

This partnership marks an important step in promoting an innovative and multidisciplinary approach to health, based on the convergence of biomedical sciences, mathematics, and digital technologies.
