The Centre Pasteur of Cameroon (CPC) and the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (CAMWATER) signed, on March 2, 2026 in Yaoundé, a new partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the quality control of public drinking water in Cameroon.
The agreement was officially signed by the two General Directors: Dr. Blaise Moussa for CAMWATER and Dr. Mirdad Kazanji for the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon. It marks an important milestone in a collaboration that has been ongoing since 2019, focused on the microbiological and physico-chemical monitoring of water, as well as on the training of sample collection agents.
From now on, this framework agreement is extended to the entire area granted to CAMWATER across the national territory. It also includes new strategic directions, notably the evaluation of water treatment products, support during audits, and external quality control.
The ceremony was punctuated by a visit to the CPC Hygiene and Environment Laboratory, where the teams presented the analysis processes in microbiology and physico-chemistry, from the receipt of samples to the production of results.
In his speech, Dr. Mirdad Kazanji recalled the long-standing and solid collaboration between the two institutions, while highlighting CPC’s position as the only laboratory accredited to the ISO 17025 standard in Cameroon for microbiological analysis of water and food.For his part, Dr. Blaise Moussa highlighted the importance for CAMWATER of quality assurance in the production of the water distributed to the population. He praised a collaboration based on concrete and complementary actions, reaffirming the commitment of the institution he is in charge of to ensure drinking water that meets standards and the expectations of users.
This strengthened partnership illustrates the shared desire of the two institutions to contribute sustainably to the protection of the health of the Cameroonian population.
