The Pasteur Center of Cameroon (CPC) hosted, from November 3 to 4, 2025, the third external surveillance audit of its Hygiene and Environment Laboratory – Microbiology section (LHEm). This evaluation is part of maintaining the accreditation issued by the Tunisian Accreditation Council (TUNAC).
Conducted by auditors Ridha Bedhief and Kahlaoui Imen, the audit focused on reviewing the documentation system as well as evaluating the Quality Management System (QMS) implemented within the laboratory. The checks notably concerned compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017, which governs the competence of testing laboratories, as well as specific standards governing microbiology activities (ISO 7218 and ISO 8199).
At the end of the mission, the auditors noted a few discrepancies, which were nevertheless considered minor and manageable. They praised the thoroughness of the LHEm teams and expressed their confidence in the laboratory’s ability to implement the required corrective actions within the prescribed timeframes. On this basis, they recommended to the TUNAC committee that the accreditation be maintained.
The CPC remains, to date, the only laboratory accredited to the ISO 17025 standard for microbiological analysis of water and food in Cameroon. This international recognition attests to the reliability of the results produced and the quality of the analyses carried out for the benefit of public and private stakeholders as well as the population.
