Pasteur Center of Cameroon-Roche Diagnostics: Towards Strengthening the Technical Platforms of Messa, Garoua, and Douala

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the meeting room of the Pasteur Center of Cameroon hosted an important working session bringing together the institution’s leaders and those of Roche Diagnostics, including Mr. Joyan Descombes, General Director for West, Francophone, and Central Africa, as well as Mr. Arnaud Rey, Chief Financial Officer of Roche Diagnostics Côte d’Ivoire.

A long-time partner of the CPC, Roche Diagnostics is among the global leaders in biotechnology. The company is recognized as a major player in in vitro diagnostics and an international provider of innovative and transformative solutions in key pathological areas.

During the discussions, Dr. Mirdad Kazanji, Director General of the CPC, reaffirmed the desire of the Pasteur Center of Cameroon to soon proceed with the acquisition of a BenchMark Ultra automated system for the Anatomy and Pathological Cytology (ANAPATH) laboratory.

This state-of-the-art equipment will ensure the continuity of immunohistochemistry analyses, which are essential for the diagnosis and management of cancers. It will also help to strengthen and diversify the laboratory’s technical offerings, particularly through the development of molecular pathology analyses, such as in situ hybridization.

Discussions also focused on potential supply of other advanced equipment by Roche Diagnostics, aimed at enhancing the technical capacities of the CPC branch in Douala as well as its annex in Garoua.

This partnership dynamic reflects the Pasteur Center of Cameroon’s commitment to continuously modernize its infrastructure and strengthen its position as a leading player in biomedical diagnostics and research in Cameroon and the sub-region.
