Hospital waste management: Managers of the Yaounde central hospital want to draw inspiration from the Pasteur Centre in Cameroon

On June 30, 2025, Professor Pierre Ongolo Zogo, Director of the Yaoundé Central Hospital, visited the Cameroon Pasteur Center (CPC) with his team. They were welcomed by Dr. Mirdad Kazanji, Director General of the CPC, as part of the cooperation between the two institutions.

The main objective: to discover the ecological shredder which is the solution adopted since March 2024, instead of the incinerator for the treatment of medical waste.

This new equipment limits noise pollution, eliminates toxic fumes and unpleasant odors, while reducing health risks for staff and local residents.

It is a modern, efficient and environmentally friendly solution, in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Public Health and those of sustainable development.

Professor Ongolo Zogo showed great interest in the operation of this device, which is well adapted to the local context.
